A major part of AIChE is the Chem-E-Car, where teams design and build a small car that runs off a chemical reaction. There are competitions at the regional and national conferences. The goal of the competition is to use enough reactants to get your car to travel a defined length. The car that makes it closest to the line wins. “The Bull Runner,” is powered by a gas forming reaction. In April, we traveled to Raleigh, NC to compete at the regional competition. Our car placed 6th overall.
